Secondary vocational school with 100% enrollment rate: I have to vote for vocational education college entrance examination!
Date of issue:2021/05/07

Secondary vocational education is only located in the second level of education, belonging to secondary education. It is meaningful to equate the training objectives of secondary vocational schools with those of secondary technical talents.

In fact, no matter from the professional and technical series, or from the professional qualification series, secondary vocational training are junior talents. After the 1990s, the status of secondary vocational schools began to decline, and even secondary technical schools became the training of "high-quality workers".

At present, the average admission rate of the national college entrance examination is about 80%, and some areas have already exceeded 90%. With the popularization of higher education, especially the enrollment expansion of Higher Vocational Education in recent two years, secondary vocational education has unconsciously transformed into higher education, just like ordinary high school. Moreover, because secondary vocational schools are able to recruit students from both general schools and counterpart schools, they seem to have more means to further their studies than general schools. For example, many secondary vocational students have realized their dream of undergraduate education by means of "saving the country through the curve". According to an incomplete survey, the rate of secondary vocational education in the education system is generally more than 90%, many of which are close to 100%.

In this case, the original employment oriented teaching system in secondary vocational schools is facing collapse. Secondary vocational schools are becoming another kind of "recitation test" due to the fact that they do not test their skills for further studies and college entrance examination. It can be said that secondary vocational schools exist in name only. But in this case, why should the general promotion ratio be roughly the same?

To say that secondary vocational schools exist in name but die in reality is in terms of social needs. However, the existence of any type of education is not only to meet the external social needs, but also to meet the internal needs of the educated. Human intelligence is pluralistic. The general college entrance examination only tests the theoretical ability, which is good for the students who are good at theoretical thinking, but not good for the students who are good at practical ability. Therefore, in this kind of competition, the latter will be eliminated and become a loser and a "poor student". There must be a type of education suitable for their talents, and this type is vocational education based on skills training.

Compared with the pure theory of general education, vocational education needs more funds and equipment to cultivate students' practical ability. However, since secondary vocational education has been reduced to higher education, it can not bring more practical benefits to the local government except for higher education. For its own purposes, the government and schools can not make large investment just to meet the so-called interests of these poor children, especially in areas with conservative ideas and tight finances. Then what shall I do? It's just "fighting poison with poison.". Chinese people are keen on entering a higher school, and the only way to enter a higher school is the college entrance examination, so we have to change it. Therefore, vocational education college entrance examination came into being.

Compared with the ordinary college entrance examination, the vocational education college entrance examination increases the skill assessment, which can force vocational schools to strengthen skill training and avoid endorsing like ordinary high schools, so as to increase the interest in learning and happiness of life for those children who are defeated by the ordinary examination.

Respecting children's talents and satisfying their different interests are the essence, warmth and ideal of education.

It is also the light of human nature!

Therefore, I have to vote for the vocational education college entrance examination!

Although the original intention of vocational education college entrance examination may not be so.

The University of the year of the official account.

By Meng Jingzhou
